Is your home ready to host the coming festivities?
With December, just a few days away, the festive season will be here before you know it. So, it’s that time of the year again when there’s an air of festive excitement, an excitement to indulge in all the celebration, love and endless laughter. Not just you, your surroundings should be ready to host the celebrations! Don’t panic! We have created a checklist that will help you out to make sure that everything is ready as it can be. This year, make sure you do not just add a touch of luxury, but create a warm, inviting space that holds the moments and memories for years.
Bring some EXTRA SEATING option.
No wonder this pointer has topped the list, of course, you don’t want your guests to stand all the time! Some extra seating with poufs, benches and ottomans comes as a blessing in disguise. Throw in some pillows, floor cushions and footstools as an additional seating option. Always make sure these extras match your existing home décor so that it doesn’t look awkward or forced, it should fit in effortlessly. If you going to mix and match, make sure you overdo it!
You need to DECLUTTER your tables and the main area
We know how important your collectibles are for you! But this might not be the perfect time to show them off. It’s good if you keep your decorations on your side tables and coffee tables to a minimum, this will give your guests some space to rest their drink and keep their belongings. You can keep some scented candles, fresh flowers as mini festive decorators as they utilize less space and are brilliant mood enhancers.
Bring in SOME NEW ESSENTIALS
Everybody loves their old stuff and tend to hold them for so long that makes the home look dull, but you can always give a touch of newness by adding rugs, changing to new curtains and cushion covers. Switch to bright, vibrant colors instead of neutrals as you are preparing for celebrations and festivities. And, it would be great if you change your sofa or redo the upholstery to have an excellent new one at a fraction of the cost. Also, you can mix and match soft pillows, blankets and throw around to create a cosy environment for prolonged conversations. This will make your home more inviting and transit it into something different and glamorous.
Keep your VALUABLES and BREAKABLES in the safe area
Keeping all the valuables and breakables in a safe area is a great idea because you don’t wanna lose them. With all the guest in the house, everyone might not be as careful as they usually are and your favourites might have to take that fall for you. Therefore, it’s better if you keep on the shelf top or in the cabinet safely.
Keep DINING AREA always ready
This is one of the most important thing to do, as the saying goes, the entryways and the dining table are the showstoppers! The first one will welcome your guests and the other one will create an environment to reconnect you to the people and of course to have some finest delicacies. Keep the dining table ready with your safely kept bone china, creatively folded hand napkins with some shiny brass or metal cutlery and some fresh blooms. With these small significant changes, you can take your interiors up a notch!
ACCESSORIZE your BATHROOM
I am not sure if your guests will remember your hosting or not, but they’re surely going to remember the way your bathroom looked and smelled. This isn’t going to fade away anytime soon. Leave lasting impressions on your guests by perking up your bathroom and washing area. You can simply place a fresh hand towel or put a basket of towels for individual use, some napkins are always good, a basket to hold used towels is a must and there should be abundant soap in your dispenser. Also, you should keep some seasonal flowers, scented candles to get rid of the bad odor and will freshen up the space. Remove all your stuff from the countertop and other areas. Don’t forget to throw a mat in front of your bathroom as it will be a true savior post-party.
So now your home décor checklist is ready, you can now finally sit and think about what to wear, what will be the food and drinks, about new cutlery, whom to invite and endless things, but don’t forget to capture the moments that gonna live with you forever!
